Landscaping services in High Wycombe

One of our passions is building quality gardens that look amazing and last the test of time. This gives potential clients a visual representation of what we are capable of and how we work.

The difference with us is Paul personally looks over and builds every garden. Unlike other landscape contractors you will see him every other day during the project. This allows us to tackle issues as they arise and allow things to evolve if they need to. We are not like any other landscape gardener in High Wycombe, why not browse through our work examples?

Driveways

A new driveway can completely change the first impression of your property to you and to others. They can transform a chaotic front garden into an impressive addition to your families parking. We are experts in the installation of all types of driveways including the popular block paving.

We can also advise you on your options including material selection and drainage requirements. We have a sound knowledge on when to install drainage gulley’s and soak always. Driveway construction is different to building a standard patio or pathway. To withstand the weight of vehicular traffic driveways should be excavated to a depth of 240mm.

There are many landscapers who try to skimp on this basic specification. This may be a cheaper option to the client but will inevitably fail after a short amount of time. We always ensure we spread a 150mm layer of mot type 1 compactable hardcore. This is perfect to accept the weight of cars with no threat of movement.

If you require a driveway contractor or landscape gardener in High Wycombe why not contact as for a consultation.

Paving & Patios

Some of our favourite landscaping projects include paving and patios. Paved surfaces can transform a garden in a way difficult to replicate with any other surface. A well built patio can celebrate natural materials and last a life time! Properly laid paving can also ensure a surface free of weeds and maintenance.

We have extensive experience of building paving and patio projects throughout High Wycombe.  With its undulating landscape and chalk bed rock we know how to make the perfect level spaces. Perhaps you need a terraced patio or retaining wall with paving at the top. Our landscape gardeners in High Wycombe are used to these solutions.

To create a patio which will last the test of time we recommend excavating to a depth of 160mm. We then spread a 100mm layer of mot type 1 compactable hardcore and then compact to levels. We then mix a 4:1 sharp sand cement mortar mix to a wet but workable consistency.

We then lay paving on a consistent mortar bed with no voids. Paving will be laid to reach a flat and consistent level and jointed with a 3:1 plastering sand mortar mix.
Below you can see some of our landscaping projects in High Wycombe with paving examples. Wish to contact us about your patio project? Contact us via the button below.

Fencing

Every garden needs fencing to provide a boundary and create a visual and physical barrier to the outside. Whether you love your neighbours or not you are sure to want some garden privacy. Fencing is one element of most garden landscaping that rarely lasts the test of time. This is commonly due to fence posts degrading and poor quality panels and installation.

When a fence suddenly comes down it can create an embarrassing and unwanted expense to put right. For this reason it is never wise to scrape on quality when installing a new fence. This goes for both the fencing and the contractor. Our landscape gardeners in High Wycombe have extensive experience in garden fencing. We install standard fences as well as decorative and contemporary slatted styles.

We are always happy to come and visit you to talk over your options and provide you with a quotation. If you need fencing services in the High Wycombe area do not hesitate to contact us.

Decking

Decking can be a quick and easy way to clad over unsightly areas or old broken up patios. Decking is usually much cheaper than paving alternatives. This is due to slightly cheaper materials and less excavations and spoil to be taken away.

This makes decking the ultimate quick garden transformation material. It is important however to be very cautious when considering installing decking. It can become slippery in winter especially when wet and where there is falling leaves. Decking will eventually degrade, this can be less of an issue with composite decks but the frame is nearly always timber.

If you are looking for a solution that will last forever go for paving and pay the little extra. Decking however will still last an exceptional amount of time if you look after it. It also comes in an exciting range of varieties, shapes, styles, and materials. If you are interested in decking or landscaping services in High Wycombe please do contact us.

Planting

Knowledge of planting can be a little bit thin on the ground when it comes to garden landscapers. It is often surprising that most gardeners today know little about gardening. Many simply mow lawns and prune hedges which are simply a way of making a living. This is fine if you want things kept in check but actually installing a new garden is different. The benefit of using our services is we can advise you on a planting scheme without hiring a designer.

We have the horticultural knowledge to advise you on the best plants for all year interest. Our High Wycombe landscape gardeners can test your soil type and improve soil conditions. We have extensive experience in supplying and planting beautiful planting schemes suited for your conditions. If you need landscaping services for new planting in the High Wycombe area do not hesitate to contact us.

Turfing

Having the perfect, level and lush green lawn is a desire of many gardeners. Not only does a well maintained lawn look great it also gives us a feeling of esteem. There is no surprise that this living surface has been such a popular part of our gardens for centuries. Its lush, green colour combined with its multi use surface is perfect for social events and sports.

Most lawns however are in a poor state, full of weeds with bumps and divots. Sometimes the lawn has not been changed since a property was originally built. This will certainly result in a lawn full of weeds, moss and with high levels of compaction. These lawns are commonly decades old and in this case a complete re-turf is the best way forward.

In a perfect world a lawn should be scarified and treated with weed and feed every couple of years. After 20 years most lawns have become so compacted and devoid of nutrients it is best to start over. This will allow you to re-condition the underlying ground.

Organic matter, free draining sand and oxygen can be worked in giving the lawn the best conditions to thrive. If you require lawn laying services in High Wycombe contact us and we will be happy to provide a quotation.

Garden design

An understanding of landscape design lies at the very heart of our landscaping company. Our managing director Paul is a qualified landscape architect with design experience in domestic gardens as well as the commercial sector. At the survey stage we will already begin the creative process.

Often we find a garden design will evolve simply by imagining the perfect moment in history for that space. We begin a process of explorative ideas supported by precedent images and sketches. Having a great experience in both design and construction we provoke a seamless evolution between the two.

This allows to find the best physical solutions to design problems and get the very most out of the clients budget. We have plenty of experience in providing garden design in High Wycombe and surrounding areas. Our landscape gardeners have a sound knowledge of how to materialise two dimensional drawings on site.  If you require a landscape gardener in High Wycombe with a flair for garden design please contact us.

Garden clearances

Everyone who owns a garden how quickly it can go from a well managed masterpiece to an overgrown jungle. With our busy lives it is easy for the garden to simply get out of control. Maybe you have just moved into a property where the garden was neglected? Or you are just too old to maintain too many flower beds with trees and shrubs. In any case we have the expertise and man power to get the garden under control.

We know the gardens of High Wycombe vary greatly to large rural properties to small bungalows. We have experience in all types of garden clearances and garden removal. In addition to this we can work with you to install a low maintenance garden that will be easy to manage.

Garden drainage

In High Wycombe flooding and saturated gardens are becoming more and more of an issue every year. With ever more wetter and unpredictable weather we are seeing a dramatic rise in flooded gardens. To add to the problem now more than ever more people are paving over their gardens. Every year an increasing amount of flowerbeds turn into concrete. This accelerates storm water runoff and increases flash flooding in and around urban areas.

Due to the undulating topography of High Wycombe rainwater can be channelled a great speed during heavy rain. Every landscape gardener should assess the potential drainage implications of all garden installations. Even when building patios and decks drainage should be a consideration. We will always do a general assessment of a gardens hydrology to minimise future drainage issues.

Typical drainage services include soak ways, channels, gulley’s lawn drainage and ecological drainage. Our landscape gardeners are familiar with these garden drainage solutions throughout High Wycombe.

Wildlife gardens

Over the past few years’ people have become more and more interested in creating gardens for wildlife. This consequently follows the fact we have lost a considerable amount of once familiar species over 30 years.

For some of us we have actually witness wildlife decline year on year. This has led to a renewed interest in environment action to protect threatened species. Typically in the past many gardeners assumes that more wildlife would mean more pests.

However after an era of pest control with insecticides we still experience numerous garden pests. The problem with insecticides is they also kill beneficial insect species. Insects like bees and solitary wasps pollinate our flowers and eat plant eating pests.

With many families too busy to enjoy gardening as a hobby they opt for bland garden schemes. Extensive areas of lawn and paving become deserts for wildlife. With a lack of nooks, crannies and dense vegetation there is little food or shelter for wild species.
Wildlife garden design High Wycombe
Many popular gardening programs and magazines now highlight the importance of wildlife gardening. This has led to an explosion of interest in the subject. It is now common to see garden bat boxes, hedgehog homes insect hotels ad bird feeding stations. This is all a great start but we will need to go allot further if we want really save endangered species.

In the end the best way to encourage wildlife to your garden is to plan it from scratch. By growing ecological planting and creating a series of habitats you can get the ball rolling. Why not install a wildlife pond or a wild flower meadow. It is amazing just how much joy a wildlife garden can bring for both wildlife and people.

Bucks landscape gardeners are experts in wildlife garden design and builds. If you wish to develop a wild garden in High Wycombe we would be happy to help.

Edible gardens

During recent times a series for food scandals have created uneasiness towards where our food comes from. The general population are growing more concerned about what they put in their mouths. This is a positive thing as mush supermarket food we eat directly facilitates the destruction of ecosystems.

Many are starting to realise that fresh, local produce although more expensive is much better. At Buckinghamshire landscape gardeners we believe in a green revolution of garden food production. Why not develop your garden to be a great outdoor fridge?

Our landscape gardeners in High Wycombe are experts in installing edible gardens. These can be fruit and nut orchards or raised vegetable growing beds. We can also design and install permaculture, food forests and edible planting schemes. One of our most popular edible gardening services is raised planting beds.

These are built to waist height to ensure a minimum of bending and a rich, deep growing medium.  We also can help you plan for livestock such as chickens building enclosures and runs. If you would like to know more about our edible gardens and self sufficiency services please contact us.

Our landscape gardeners in High Wycombe are extremely experienced and enthusiastic about such projects.  We operate in High Wycombe but also across Buckinghamshire and the Chiltern area.

What Our Clients Are Saying

Paul laid a very curvy brick mow strip all around our lawn and also added a circular patio and added some new grassed areas. He paid so much attention to each brick laid to make sure the end results was perfect. Despite the wet and muddy work everything was made good and looked amazing once finished. His enthusiasm and knowledge for the garden and plants was infectious. He even fixed a couple of broken paving slabs that he saw down our side alley without being asked It is refreshing to see someone take so much pride and care in their work and we would definitely book him again for any other garden project.
